McIntosh Memorial Library & Viroqua Parks & Rec to offer Joint programs starting in June

May 12, 2025

The McIntosh Memorial Library in partnership with Viroqua Parks & Recreation are teaming up to offer three joint programs in Summer 2025.

“It’s a real benefit for two city departments to work collaboratively to offer enrichment opportunities for youth and families” said Trina Erickson Director of the McIntosh Memorial Library.

In June the two department will be offering Rock & Roam on Tuesday, June 24 from 1 p.m. – 2 p.m. at the Bigley Shelter. During this event participants will be able to let their creativity shine as they paint rocks to decorate Viroqua. The dried and decorated rocks will be available for pick up on June 25 and 26 from the Parks & Recreation office and spread around town. Registration is not required.

In July, former LaFarge Library Director Rita Wachuta-Breckel will lead a geocaching program at Eckhart Park. Join us on Wednesday, July 17 from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. During the program participants will explore the park, find hidden treasures, and enjoy the thrill of discovery. Registration is not required.

Geocaching is a real-world, outdoor treasure hunting game where participants use GPS-enabled devices to navigate hidden containers called “geocaches”. These caches contain a logbook and sometimes small trinkets or traveling items. Geocachers find the caches using the coordinates provided through apps and other platforms, sign the logbook, and may exchange items.

The final joint program is Art in the Park on August 12 from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. at Eckhart Park. During this joint program we’ll be offering arts and craft “Creation Stations” for all ages—featuring tie-dye, watercolors, chalk, and much more! Registration is not required.
