Vernon County Sheriff’s Office apprehends juvenile suspected of armed robbery at Genoa convenience store

GENOA, Wis. – Vernon County Sheriff Roy Torgerson reports a 15-year-old juvenile male is in custody who is suspected of robbing a Genoa convenience store while brandishing a firearm.

The report states the Sheriff’s Office 911 Dispatch Center received a call from an employee at a Genoa convenience store at approximately 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 26. The caller stated that a male entered the store, pointed a firearm at the clerk, and demanded money.  The employee complied and the male left without further incident.  

The caller provided the 911 dispatcher with a detailed description of the suspect who was last seen on foot. That information was quickly provided to law enforcement who and within approximately five minutes of the initial call, located a 15-year-old juvenile male matching the description given by the caller.  A firearm and money was located and the teen was taken into custody.

The teen was turned over to juvenile authorities and remains in custody.

Assisting the Sheriff’s Office were the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources and Vernon County Department of Human Services.

The incident remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office.
