90-year-old Stoddard man hospitalized following crash in town of Bergen

STODDARD, Wis. – The Vernon County Sheriff’s Office reports a 90-year-old Stoddard man suffered serious injuries as the result of a crash in the town of Bergen on Sunday afternoon. According to a Sheriff’s report the Sheriff’s Office 911 Dispatch Center received a 9-1-1 call at approximately 3:00 p.m. on Sunday May 25 reporting a single-vehicle crash near the intersection of County Road O and Sylvan Glen Road in rural Stoddard.

The report states Don C. Zink, 90, of Stoddard was driving west on County Road O, went off the road on a sharp curve, struck the ditch, and came to rest in an open field.

The report goes on to say serious injuries were suspected, and Zink was transported to Gundersen Health System, in La Crosse, Wis. by Gundersen Tri-State Ambulance. As of Tuesday morning, Mr. Zink remains in stable condition.

Assisting the Sheriff’s Office at the scene were the Stoddard-Bergen Fire Department and First Responders, and Gundersen Tri-State Ambulance.
