Viroqua utilities to begin fall hydrant flushing and flow testing

Oct. 25, 2025

VIROQUA, Wis. — Viroqua Utilities will begin its fall hydrant flushing program Sunday night, Oct. 26, with overnight operations scheduled through early November.

Flushing will take place nightly from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m., starting Oct. 26 through Oct. 30, and again from Nov. 2 through Nov. 6. Flow testing is scheduled for Nov. 10–12, according to Utility Clerk Cheryl Purvis.

Residents may experience temporary drops in water pressure and discoloration during the flushing period. The utility also warns that automatic flushing units and pressure-sensitive equipment may be affected.

Viroqua Utilities encourages residents to plan accordingly and appreciates public cooperation during the maintenance period.

For more information, contact the Utilities Department at (608) 637-7186, ext. 319 or 313.
