Grain truck crash closes State Highway 82 in Vernon County

Nov. 7, 2025.

Viroqua, Wis. — A grain truck hauling corn crashed Friday afternoon at the intersection of State Highway 82 and County Road P in Vernon County, authorities said.

The single-vehicle crash occurred as the truck was traveling southeast on County Road P, according to Sheriff Roy Torgerson. The operator, who was the lone occupant, was transported to a hospital with injuries that appear to be non-life-threatening.

The crash spilled the truck’s load of corn, prompting a temporary closure of State Highway 82 for cleanup. Eastbound traffic was detoured via County Road V to State Highway 33 during the closure. Officials estimated the roadway would reopen within an hour, and by late afternoon, the highway was confirmed open.

Additional details about the crash are expected to be released over the weekend, Torgerson said.
