Vernon County Sheriff’s Report for the week ending Saturday, June 7, 2025

6/1 A deputy responded to a residence on Sag City Road in the Town of Franklin for report of an unknown truck parked fully on the lawn. A male party was found passed out in the driver’s seat with the truck running. The deputy detected the odor of intoxicants, and the driver was processed for Operating While Under the Influence and transported to the Sheriff’s Office Detention Center.

6/2 A traffic stop was initiated on the 200 block of North Washington Street in the Village of Viola for a vehicle that failed to yield the right of way at a stop sign. During the stop it was determined that the driver was impaired and was subsequently arrested for Operating While Under the Influence. The driver was transported to the Sheriff’s Office Detention Center.

6/3 A deputy responded to State Highway 56 near Volden Road in the Town of Jefferson for a single vehicle crash in which the vehicle left the roadway while negotiating a curve. The truck struck a culvert and went airborne over a driveway striking a farm sign before coming to a rest. The truck was towed from the scene due to disabling damage. The driver reported no injuries but was cited for no seatbelt use.

6/4 A deputy was conducting speed enforcement on State Highway 131 south of La Farge when a vehicle was found to be traveling at a high rate of speed. Radar was activated and indicated the vehicle was traveling 87mph in a 55mph zone. The driver was cited for speeding 32mph over the posted limit.

6/5 Dispatch received a complaint of a possible impaired driver traveling eastbound towards Readstown on US Highway 14 in the Town of Kickapoo. The car was located by deputies, and a traffic stop was initiated. The driver was arrested for Operating Under the Influence and transported to the Sheriff’s Office Detention Center.

6/6 Deputies responded to an automated crash alarm on US Highway 14 near Brinkman Ridge Road in the Town of Hamburg when a vehicle struck the back of the other and sustained heavy front-end damage. No injuries were reported, and both vehicles were towed from the scene.
