Work is ending on Viroqua’s Main Street but work on side streets means restricted parking on Jefferson and West Terhune

May 14, 2025

VIROQUA, Wis. – City of Viroqua Engineer and Street Superintendent Sarah Grainger says the concrete work on Main Street is complete, and Mathy Paving is finishing the the asphalt patches on Court and Terhune today. This means that most of the traffic controls will come down on Main Street tonight, with the exception of the left hand turns lanes at Jefferson (until tomorrow) and the few parking stalls on Main Street that will be permanently removed (those closest to Decker and South).

Grainger goes on to say the contractor will be working on pavement markings and marking removal Wednesday and Thursday. They will start with the main line work on Main which means the left-hand turn lanes at Court and Terhune and removing them at Jefferson. Next up is adding some additional parking stalls on Main Street and painting the angled parking on Jefferson and Terhune. As such, there will be no parking over the next two days on West Jefferson, East Jefferson and West Terhune, for one block off Main, while they convert to angled parking. East Terhune will remain in the current configuration until the Center Avenue project, which will likely occur early next year.

Information about the project is available at the construction webpage on the City website. If you have any questions, wish to set up an appointment to discuss sight specific needs one or one, or want to provide your email to receive these updates, feel free to contact Sarah Grainger at 608-637-2937 or sgrainger@viroqua-wisconsin.com.
