Westby police respond to kidnapping report on locust street; no threat found

WESTBY, Wis. — At approximately 9:03 p.m. on Sept. 26, the Westby Police Department says they received a report of a possible kidnapping near the storage units on Locust Street. Multiple agencies responded promptly, and a thorough investigation was conducted.

Authorities determined that no kidnapping had occurred. Witnesses reported seeing an unidentified male subject walking near the storage units with a flashlight. The individual has not been confirmed or identified.

During the incident, a juvenile observed the subject and began chasing him. This action raised concern among others present, prompting a 911 call reporting what was believed to be a kidnapping.

The Westby Police Department reminds the public to report suspicious activity immediately by contacting law enforcement, rather than attempting to approach or pursue individuals.

There is no ongoing threat to public safety.
