Westby police report woman hospitalized with stab wounds, suspect arrested

WESTBY, Wis. — A suspect has been arrested following an apparent stabbing that left a woman hospitalized with multiple wounds, authorities said.

According to Chief Scott C. Stuber, Vernon County dispatch received a call at approximately 9 a.m. on Aug. 12 regarding a female patient who had been admitted to Emplify Health in La Crosse with multiple stab wounds.

Authorities said the suspect has been taken into custody and is awaiting formal charges. The victim remains hospitalized and is reported to be in stable condition.

Officials said the investigation is ongoing, but there is no danger to the public because the incident is believed to have been isolated.

The Vernon County Sheriff’s Office is assisting with the investigation.

Authorities are withholding the names of those involved and additional details at this time as the investigation continues.
