Westby Norse Fund launches new memorial scholarship honoring former teacher Todd Ihrcke

April 24, 2025

WESTBY, Wis. – The Westby Norse Fund announced this week they have launched a new memorial scholarship, offering the community a meaningful way to support local students while honoring the legacy of a beloved educator and leader.

In 2024, the Norse Fund awarded 87 scholarships totaling $109,935 to Westby Area High School graduates. Building on that momentum, the Fund now invites donors and the community to participate in a new initiative: the Todd Ihrcke Memorial Scholarship.

This scholarship honors the life and legacy of Todd Ihrcke, who left an indelible mark on the Westby Area School District as a teacher, administrator, coach, and mentor. Known for his deep commitment to students and education, Todd was a natural leader and a compassionate presence in the lives of many.

Even after being diagnosed with kidney cancer in 2018, Todd returned to his roots at Westby, serving as Athletic Director and rejoining the volleyball and girls’ basketball coaching staffs. His final years were filled with purpose and joy, especially as he mentored his nephews and coached his nieces—carrying on a legacy of leadership through family and sport.

Todd’s deep love for the Westby community, its people, and its traditions will continue through this scholarship. His family and friends hope to memorialize his dedication to education and community by supporting future Westby graduates in their pursuit of higher learning.

“Todd would have cherished every moment watching his grandchildren grow up as Norsemen,” said one family member. “This scholarship is one way to carry on his passion and commitment to Westby’s youth.”

The Norse Fund invites community members to contribute to the Todd Ihrcke Memorial Scholarship and help build a lasting legacy.
