VIROQUA, Wis. – Masha and the Firebird is a tale based on Russian folklore and brought to the stage by Viroqua’s DogCat Theater. Director Tanja Birke said the story is about a young girl who overcomes her fears to help the Firebird in a battle against the powerful Baba Yaga. Based on the original children’s story by Margaret Bateson-Hill, Birke says the play will bring the characters to life with the help of some animals, and a little bit of magic. The play runs June 19-22 at the Landmark Theater in Viroqua.
