VIROQUA, Wis. – January 23, 2024 – Last night, Viroqua residents came together in unprecedented numbers to support their community at the first of four Viroqua SOUP events. Viroqua SOUP, presented by the Viroqua Chamber, is a community crowdfunding event that champions local projects for the betterment of our community. With a record-breaking turnout of over 100 people, the evening showcased the amazing projects happening in Viroqua and our community’s dedication to making a positive impact.
Four incredible organizations made pitches, including Rise & Shine Hot Air Balloon Rally (Event Link), the Healing Hearts Care Choir (Facebook Page), Swings for Adults with Disabilities, and the Amara Rose Foundation. After all the pitches were complete, the votes came in, contributing to a prize pot of over $650 for the Amara Rose Foundation to support the foundation’s mission of spreading awareness about fentanyl in the local community. “Last night showed us that Viroqua SOUP is more than an event,” says Larkin Breckel, Assistant Director at the Viroqua Chamber. “It is a testament to the care, strength, and compassion that is so strong here in Viroqua. Together, this community can do such great things, and SOUP reminds us of all what we’re capable of when we come together as a community.”
The success of the Viroqua Chamber’s first SOUP of the year was made possible by the generous support from local businesses and organizations, including soup donations from the Viroqua Eagles and Noble Rind Cheese Company, butter from Westby Co-op Creamery, and the dedicated volunteers from the Viroqua Chamber and Viroqua Plastic Free. Viroqua Plastic Free’s collaboration with the Viroqua Chamber helped ensure that the event maintained a low-waste footprint.
Save the date for the next Viroqua SOUP event, scheduled for March 6th at the Viroqua Food Co-op. The community is invited to come together once again to support innovative projects and initiatives that contribute to the betterment of Viroqua. If you have questions, an idea you would like to pitch, or would like to be a sponsor or supporter of the Viroqua SOUP events, please reach out to the Viroqua Chamber at (608) 637-2575 or infodesk@viroqua-wisconsin.com.
