Viroqua Police arrest 45-year-old man for church break-ins

VIROQUA, Wis. — The Viroqua Police Department reports that on Saturday, July 15, they revived a report that a burglary had occurred at the Grace Evangelical Free Church during the overnight
hours. The report states that entry was made to the church through a locked door and cash was taken.

The report goes on to say the following day the Viroqua Police Department located fresh damage to a door on the Immanuel Lutheran Church. It was later confirmed, that entry into this church was unsuccessful.

As a result of the investigations of two cases a suspect was identified and on June 19 investigators arrested Mark S. Wellington, 45, of Viroqua, Wis. Wellington was arrested on June Wellington has been charged with burglary, attempted burglary, and probation violation charges.
Charges have been filed with the Vernon County District Attorney’s Office at this time.
