VIROQUA, Wis. – Are you prepared to save a life? Is that a question you’ve ever asked yourself? Many feel they can rely on volunteer EMTs and medical professionals to take care of emergency need. In our rural community, emergency response times can be 15 to 30 minutes. That means someone, on scene, needs to give immediate support to keep our loved ones safe. What would you do if your family member had an emergent healthcare need? Every second counts, everything you do to respond as an individual will increase survival and the life you save may be your loved one.
Viroqua Park & Recreation Department has teamed with Vernon Count Over 50 and Attitude 4LIFE to offer a community-based class to supply confidence in emergency situations and knowledge of lifesaving skills to those living in our area. Family and Friends CPR offers participants skills in Adult, Child & Infant CPR, how to respond in emergent choking events, and basics of AED use.
The class will be led by a certified instructor with a passion for teaching and years of experience. Skills are taught in a dynamic group environment with a practice-while-watching learning technique, making this a fun-filled educational event for all involved. Each student will receive high quality course material for reference. This class will increase life-saving knowledge within our community in a casual, comfortable setting. This is not a certification course to fulfill employment or school requirements.
The class will be held Saturday, Dec. 2 at 9 a.m. – 11 a.m. at the Bethel Home Fellowship Hall, 614 S. Rock Ave. Viroqua. The cost of $30 will cover course materials and instruction. Early registration is encouraged as the number of participants will be limited. Registration deadline is November 27. Register online at Community CPR Program .
