Viroqua Mayor signs proclamation recognizing September as Library Card Sign-Up Month

VIROQUA, Wis. – The McIntosh Memorial Library in Viroqua and the American Library Association invite residents to celebrate Library Card Sign-up Month this September.

McIntosh Memorial Library Director Trina Erickson said she is inviting “everyone to discover the incredible resources and opportunities available at your local library by signing up for a library card.”

“This year, we’re thrilled to have Optimus Prime from the TRANSFORMERS as our special ambassador,” said Erickson “Highlighting there’s more than meets the eye at McIntosh Memorial Library. Whether you’re looking to enhance your skills, find valuable information, or connect with fellow avid readers, a library card unlocks a world of possibilities.”

Erickson went on to say today’s libraries are vibrant community centers offering much more than just books. At McIntosh Memorial Library, you’ll find diverse programs, book clubs, author talks, story times, and more.

“If you are curious about exploring a new hobby or learning a new language the McIntosh Memorial Library has the resources you need,” said Erickson. “We host programs that allow you to learn or try something new, hear about your neighbors and community members’ businesses and adventures, create art, and so much more for both youth and adults.”

The McIntosh Memorial Library also offers chess boards, books, movies, audio-books, video games, and more for checkout.

“There’s truly something for everyone at McIntosh Memorial Library,” said Erickson. “Getting a library card is easy and is an essential step toward academic success and lifelong learning for students. Everyone should have one”

Throughout September stop into the library and put your name in a drawing for a book bag filled with goodies. Two adult drawings, and two youth are available. Winners will be announced and contacted on October 1.

Erickson encouraged everyone to visit the McIntosh Memorial Library this September to sign up for a library card and discover all that your library has to offer.
