Viroqua man injured after losing control of motorcycle on County Road Y

VIROQUA, Wis. – Vernon County Sheriff Roy Torgerson reports a motorcycle crash occurred Saturday, August 31, at approximately 6:30 p.m., in rural Viroqua, in the town of Jefferson.

According to the sheriff 21-year-old Bretton Ronald Anderson from rural Viroqua was operating his motorcycle traveling west on County Road Y, just west of the intersection with County Road B and as he crested a hill he saw another westbound vehicle slowing down ahead of him.  While abruptly braking and reducing speed, the motorcyclist lost control, skidded across the roadway, and came to rest along the south edge of the roadway. 

The operator sustained apparent non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to Vernon Memorial Healthcare, in Viroqua by Gundersen Tri-State Ambulance. 

The operator was wearing adequate clothing and safety gear.

The motorcycle sustained severe damage. 

Responding to the scene with the Sheriff’s Office were the Viroqua Fire Department and first responders; and Gundersen Tri-State Ambulance.

The operator’s name will be released at a later time.

The crash remains under investigation.
