SPARTA, Wis. – The Monroe County Sheriff’s Office is reporting a Viroqua man is facing charges for attempting to deliver methamphetamine to an inmate at the Monroe County jail while working for a food service company.

A Monroe County Sheriff’s Department report states that on April 24, Aramark driver Zechariah Borden was observed on a security camera delivering a package to jail inmate Nicholas Hage, who was assisting in taking in the food delivery. Corrections deputies quickly separated all subjects from the area and recovered the package. Investigators were called into the jail and it was found that the recovered package had methamphetamine hidden inside of it.
Borden’s was booked into the jail on charges of delivering an article to an inmate as well as possession and delivery of methamphetamine.
New charges for Hage were also sent to the District Attorney’s Office for prosecution.
Borden will have his bond hearing on Monday, April 28, at 1:00 p.m.
