Viroqua library, parks department launch summer photography contest

June 13, 2026

VIROQUA, Wis. — McIntosh Memorial Library is partnering with Viroqua Parks and Recreation to host a community photography contest this July, inviting participants of all skill levels to capture the natural beauty of the Viroqua area.

Organizers are encouraging photographers — from beginners to professionals — to submit images featuring local scenery, including birds, flowers, bees, lakes and ponds, as well as hills and valleys. All submitted photos will be printed and displayed on the library’s art wall.

One winning image will be featured on the cover of the City of Viroqua’s Fall Guide, published by the parks and recreation department.

“This is an excellent way to get the community involved in the fun hobby of photography,” said Parks and Recreation Director Kale Proksch. “It’s a way to get their name out there and explore the beautiful landscape we are fortunate to find ourselves surrounded by.”

The contest is open to all ages and does not require advance registration. Entries must be submitted digitally via email to Emilia Jury, the library’s youth services director.

The selected winner will be contacted directly, organizers said.

Residents can find more information by visiting the library’s website, following the “Viroqua Library” page on Facebook or calling 608-637-7151, extension 5.
