VIROQUA, Wis. — McIntosh Memorial Library is teaming up with the Viroqua Fire Department to mark Fire Prevention Week with a community-wide safety event on Friday, Oct. 10.
The all-ages program runs from 4 to 6 p.m. at the library and will feature live demonstrations, safety tips, and hands-on activities aimed at helping families prevent fires and respond effectively in emergencies. Children will have the chance to meet local firefighters, explore fire equipment, and learn life-saving skills in an engaging, interactive setting.
“As a Fire Department we do a lot of educational programs during the month of October in celebration of Fire Prevention Week,” said Viroqua Fire Chief Chad Buros. “Partnering with the McIntosh Memorial Library to help inform people of steps they can take to avoid a fire is important to us.”
Fire Prevention Week is observed annually in the United States and Canada during the week of Oct. 9. It was first proclaimed in 1925 by President Calvin Coolidge to commemorate the Great Chicago Fire and promote public awareness of fire safety.
No registration is required. For more information, visit www.mcintoshmemoriallibrary.org, follow “Viroqua Library” on Facebook, or call 608-637-7151 ext. 5.
