Viroqua house suffers smoke and fire damage, no one injured

VIROQUA, Wis. – According to the Viroqua Fire Department they responded to a house fire at 632 East Decker Street around 8:18 Tuesday morning. Fire Chief Chad Buros said when crews arrived, smoke and flames were coming from the attached garage and porch areas, and they were able to locate the fire on an outside wall and in the attic of the home. 

Buros said fire crews were able to contain the fire to the rear part of the home and attic area but went on to say the whole home had smoke damage, and fire damage to the garage and porch areas.

One person was in the home at the time of the fire but was able to safely get out of the building.

Assisting at the scene were the Westby and Viola Fire Departments, the Viroqua Police Department, Tri-State Ambulance, Viroqua Utilities, Madison Gas and Electric and Xcel Energy. Crews were at the scene for approximately 4.5 hours.
