Viroqua Fire Department responds to garage fire in Town of Franklin

VIROQUA, Wis. — The Viroqua Fire Department responded Friday night to a structure fire at E7414 Monson Road in the Town of Franklin, according to Fire Chief Chad Buros.

The department was dispatched at 10:49 p.m. Friday for a report of a fire in a detached garage. Upon arrival, firefighters observed heavy smoke and flames coming from the structure.

Fire crews quickly brought the blaze under control and extinguished it. The detached garage sustained major damage, officials said.

No civilians or firefighters were injured during the incident.

Firefighters remained on scene until approximately 1:25 a.m. Saturday. The origin and cause of the fire remain under investigation.

Assisting agencies included the Westby Fire Department, Viola Fire Department, Vernon County Sheriff’s Office, Tri-State Ambulance and Vernon Electric.
