Viroqua City Engineer says downtown street work finishing up just in time to start other projects

May 8,2025

VIROQUA, Wis. – City Engineer Sarah Grainger says the downtown Main Street work will be wrapping up next week and thanks to nice weather, most of the concrete work should be done this week. Grainger sent out an update on the project today that included a schedule for the remaining work on Main Street, as well as other upcoming projects.

Grainger said concrete work on Main Street should be completed by Friday, May 9 and will cure over the weekend. Monday, crews will do restoration and prep for asphalt patches. Tuesday, Mathy will be paving the asphalt patches on the project. Wednesday should see most of the traffic control removed. Wednesday and Thursday will be for pavement marking removal and painting and any additional sign work.

Grainger said the completion couldn’t come at a better time because other construction projects are going to require road and lane closures. Monday, Nelson Parkway will be closed north of Arena Drive for storm water work related to the Fire Station project. Also on Monday, Main Street will have lane closures near the Fairgrounds for the sewer project happening in the area with traffic traveling on the west side. Tuesday, asphalt patching will be happening at Cty BB at HWY 56 and Marquette at Chicago.

Information about these projects is available at the construction webpage on the City website. If you have any questions, wish to set up an appointment to discuss sight specific needs one or one, or want to provide your email to receive these updates, contact Sarah Grainger at 608-637-2937 or sgrainger@viroqua-wisconsin.com.
