Viroqua Chamber to hold upcoming SOUP event at Viroqua Food Co-op on March 6

VIROQUA, Wis. – Another SOUP event is scheduled in Viroqua for March 6 from 5:00 p.m.-6:30 p.m. at the Viroqua Food Co-op. The upcoming event marks the second SOUP hosted by the Viroqua Chamber in 2024. 

Viroqua SOUP is a community event where local residents are invited to come together to share a delicious meal, hear pitches for community projects, and cast a ballot for their favorite idea. Suggested donations for SOUP are $5, and for that attendees will be served a bowl of soup, fresh bread and butter, and will receive a ballot. Four presenters will each pitch their ideas and attendees will cast their ballot for their favorite proposal.  The winner of the vote will take home the evening’s proceeds to help fund their project.

The first Viroqua SOUP of the year held in January raised $750 for the Amara Rose Foundation to help increase fentanyl awareness campaigns in the region. 

“We’re excited to host Viroqua SOUP because it aligns with the co-op’s mission and supports local people and projects that enhance the quality of life in our community,” said Jan Rasikas, Viroqua Food Co-op General Manager.  

As part of the Viroqua Chamber’s ongoing commitment to sustainability, community members are encouraged to participate in reducing waste at the upcoming Viroqua SOUP event by bringing their own bowls (B.Y.O.B!). Additionally, in collaboration with the local nonprofit Viroqua Plastic Free, reusable bowls, napkins, and silverware will be provided. Volunteers from Viroqua Plastic Free will be on hand during the event to support efforts in making Viroqua SOUP a low-waste event. 

Viroqua SOUP is organized by the Viroqua Chamber and is supported by food donations from Westby Co-op Creamery, the Viroqua Food Co-op, Rhythm Bakery, and Noble Rind Cheese Company. Viroqua SOUP occurs four times per year and is held in different locations for each event.  The Viroqua Chamber is still accepting pitches for May and November.
