Viroqua Wis. – The Viroqua Chamber announced this week the the 2023 Viroqua Farmers Market “Vendor of the Year” award was presented to Jacobson Farms, a small family farm outside Cashton, Wis. The Chamber says the Jacobson family specializes in offering grass-fed and finished beef and lamb, pastured pork, farm-fresh eggs, and artisanal skincare products. As first-generation farmers, they bring an abundance of positive energy, kindness, and a deep-rooted love for the community they serve to the market throughout the entire season.
“The Jacobsons provided high-quality pasture raised meat, eggs, and hand-crafted skin care to the Viroqua community,” said previous vendors of the year Ellena Wolff and Sawyer Paar. “Week after week they showed up as a family, to interact with and provide for this community food raised with intention and thoughtfulness, using farming practices that are harmonious with nature, including people.”
In recognition of the vibrant community of farmers and artisans, the Viroqua Chamber, host of the Viroqua Farmers Market, celebrated an outstanding 2023 Viroqua Farmers Market Season with a special breakfast in November. Despite dry conditions early in the season, the market saw an increase in total vendors, and generated an estimated direct economic impact of nearly half a million dollars. The event also highlighted the addition of kids markets on the first Saturday of each month and the continued growth of the SNAP, EBT, and WIC programs, ensuring increased access to fresh, healthy food within the community each week.
