Viroqua campus among six locations for Western’s annual open house

VIROQUA, Wis. Western Technical College will host its annual college-wide open house on Wednesday, October 8, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.. The free event is open to the public and will take place at all six of its campus locations, including La Crosse, Black River Falls, Independence, Mauston, Tomah, and Viroqua.

The open house offers prospective students and their families a chance to explore the college’s more than 90 academic programs, tour facilities, and meet with faculty and staff. Attendees can learn about financial aid, scholarships, and student services. Refreshments will be available at each location.

A key incentive for attendees is the waived $30 application fee for those who apply during the event. This offer is available to high school seniors and older individuals planning to enroll in the spring, summer, or fall 2026 terms. Additionally, attendees can enter a drawing to win a $500 scholarship from the Western Foundation and Alumni Endowed Scholarship.

While all regional locations will host events, the main activities will be centered at the La Crosse campus in the Lunda Center at 333 7th St. N.. Visitors there will find representatives from student clubs, campus services, and several four-year universities that have transfer agreements with Western, including Viterbo University and the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse. Financial Aid and Resource Planning Services staff will be available at the La Crosse campus to help with filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The college’s on-campus residence hall will also be open for tours.

Western Technical College serves the western Wisconsin region, with its main campus situated in La Crosse and five regional locations, including one in Viroqua. The college reports that 94% of its graduates find employment within six months, with 71% employed within the college’s district.

The college offers a variety of credentials, including 43 associate degrees, 36 technical diplomas, and 13 certificates and apprenticeships. Programs are organized into ten areas of interest, such as Agriculture & Natural Resources, Health Sciences, and Transportation.
