Veterans for Vets Disc Golf Tournament is a huge success

VIROQUA, Wis. – On Saturday, March 9, Vernon Trails hosted the Fifth Annual Veterans for Vets Disc Golf Tournament at the Veteran Huard to honor all vet’s. This set the tone for the day; one of respect for the VFW. The event included 24 holes of disc golf, a silent auction, and catered lunch with complimentary meals for all veterans.

The Veterans for Vets is a tournament created by Dynamic Disc. Its mission is to find a community organizer, and tasks them with choosing a local agency or organization that helps veterans in the community.

Vernon Trails and the VFW began their partnership in 2013. Together they have created an exceptional 18 hole disc golf course, Veteran Hills. The Veterans for Vets tournament is an excellent way for Vernon Trails to showcase the course and raise funds for the VFW. It also brings players, both near and far together, to show honor and respect to the VFW and the land that they share.

What made this year so successful was the collaborative efforts of the Disc Golf Community. Players from the region showed up to play for the cause and appreciate the VFW.  Volunteers from Kickapoo Disc Golf Club were instrumental in making this a success. The addition of a silent auction allowed businesses and participants to engage in a different way.  It was a record breaking event with over 50 participants and $2500 raised.

Vernon Trails would like to thank all the local businesses who donated to support this event. A big shout out to all the volunteers that made this event so successful , and most importantly to the VFW for their continued support and partnership.
