Vernon County Sheriff’s Report for the week ending Saturday, Oct. 4, 2025

9/28     Deputies responded to a residence on S. Cherry Street in La Farge and took a female with an active felony warrant into custody.  She was transported to the Sheriff’s Office Detention Center.

9/29     Dispatch received a call from a business in Westby reporting that an intoxicated male was on site causing a scene.  Deputies responded and the individual was removed from the location.

9/29     A deputy was dispatched to a residence in the town of Hillsboro for a missing 11-year-old female.  Prior to the deputy’s arrival, dispatch was notified that the child had been located.  She had been hiding at the residence. 

9/29     A traffic stop was initiated on US Highway 14 near County Road Y in the Town of Viroqua for a juvenile speeding 92 mph in a 55-mph zone.

9/30     Dispatch was notified of black beef cows on the roadway in the town of Jefferson.  The owner of the cattle was identified and contacted and came to secure the animals.

10/1     The Sheriff’s Office received a report of a vehicle driving extremely fast on US Highway 14 in the town of Viroqua.  A deputy responded to the call but was unable to locate a car matching the description driving fast.

10/2     A deputy went to Esofea Park in the town of Jefferson to attempt execution of a warrant for Failure to Appear on a bail jumping case on an individual staying at the campground.  The offender was located and taken into custody.

10/2     Dispatch received an automated crash notification near Old Highway 14 and Skyline Drive in the town of Viroqua.   Dispatch was unable to make contact, so a deputy went en route but was unable to locate a vehicle.  Contact was later made with the parents of the young driver who advised the driver’s phone had fallen off the vehicle and caused the automated crash detection.  The phone had been retrieved by the owner, and no emergency was occurring.

10/3     A driver called to report a car versus deer collision on County Road SS in the town of Webster.  The caller reported there were no injuries and their vehicle was still drivable.  They advised the deer was still in the roadway.  A deputy arrived on scene, and the deer was dispatched and removed from the roadway.
