Vernon County Sheriff’s Report for the week ending Saturday, Nov. 29, 2025

11/23 A landowner called regarding neighbors trespassing and hunting on his property on Missel Road in the Town of Wheatland. The DNR responded regarding UTV and hunting violations and sheriff’s deputies assessed possible damage and trespassing to the property.

11/23 Deputies responded to West Wisconsin Street in the Village of Viola for report of suspicious activity. One male was taken into custody under a Department of Corrections hold for Parole/Probation Violations and transported to the Sheriff’s Office Detention Center.

11/23 A citizen called to report an intoxicated male dragging an orange vest and attempting to gain entrance to the La Farge Zzip Stop after hours. Deputies responded but were unable to locate the male.

11/24 A deputy initiated a traffic stop near US Highway 14 and Springville Road in the Town of Viroqua. The driver was cited for speeding up to 100 mph in a 55 mph zone.

11/24 A property owner reported that within the last five months someone had possibly been staying in their camper but before leaving had ransacked it and taken various items, including two Remington rifles and power tools. The guns were entered as stolen. Investigation is ongoing.

11/25 Deputies were dispatched to Reo Avenue in the Town of Christiana for report of a male being disorderly, opening various car doors and preventing others from leaving the location.

11/26 Numerous accidents and slide offs were reported due to the wintery weather conditions. No injuries were reported.

11/27 Deputies responded to a domestic disturbance on Snow Street in the Village of La Farge. A female was taken into custody and transported to the Sheriff’s Office Detention Center for Battery – Simple Assault and Disorderly Conduct.

11/27 A deputy was called to a business on Central Avenue in the Village of Coon Valley. A patron had entered the unlocked front entrance but found no employees inside and were concerned someone may have suffered a medical event in the back. It was discovered that the business was closed for Thanksgiving and an employee was called to secure the front doors.

11/27 Deputies responded to a residence on Washington Street in the Town of Wheatland. A male was taken into custody under a Department of Corrections hold for Probation/Parole Violation and was transported to the Sheriff’s Office Detention Center.

11/27 Sheriff’s deputies, as well as La Farge Fire and EMS, were dispatched to a fully engulfed vehicle fire on State Highway 82 west of the Webster Town Hall. After speaking with the owner it was determined the vehicle had just been stolen within the last half hour. A male found near the location gave a deputy a full confession. The incident is pending further investigation.

11/28 A single vehicle rollover briefly caused a closure of the westbound lane of State Highway 82 in the Town of Sterling. The driver was suspected of being impaired and transported by ambulance for evaluation at a local hospital. A citation for Operating While Under the Influence was issued and the driver released to a responsible party. The incident is pending further investigation.
