5/24 A physical altercation at a business on Mill Street in the City of Hillsboro resulted in two males being taken into custody, one for Misdemeanor Disorderly Conduct, and the other for Misdemeanor Disorderly Conduct and Battery. Both were transported to the Sheriff’s Office Detention Center. Investigation is ongoing.
5/24 A welfare check was requested after an alleged altercation at a residence on East Main Street in the Village of Readstown. A female was transported for further medical evaluation.
5/24 A deputy responded to a single vehicle rollover crash on South Ridge Road in the Town of Harmony. The driver believed they’d fallen asleep at the wheel. No injuries were reported and the vehicle was towed.
5/24 A resident of South Cherry Street in the Village of La Farge reported a rogue rooster had been running the neighborhood and today it was chasing them while on their lawn mower. A deputy was unable to make contact with the owner. Local police were notified.
5/26 Deputies responded to a residence on Hickory Ridge Road in the Town of Genoa. Individuals were housesitting when a male barged into the residence, swearing, and rummaging through the home, demanding to speak with the homeowner. The male broke the driver side window of the house sitter’s vehicle before fleeing the property. Investigation is ongoing.
5/27 Dispatch received a report that a male with a possible warrant was at a residence on West Main Street in the Village of Readstown. Deputies responded to the location but roommates stated they had not seen the male recently. Deputies located the male nearby and while waiting to confirm warrants, the male attempted to run from law enforcement. Warrants were confirmed through Crawford and Grant Counties and the male was taken to the Sheriff’s Office Detention Center for Failure to Appear x4, Misdemeanor Bail Jumping x4, and Resisting or Obstructing an Officer.
5/27 A citizen called to report mail fraud. She had mailed a check to her credit card company but it appeared to have been intercepted, rewritten to another individual and then cashed. Investigation is ongoing.
5/28 A traffic stop was initiated near Ghelf Road and State Highway 35 in the Town of Wheatland when a deputy observed a vehicle speeding along a gravel roadway. Citations for speed and lack of insurance were given.
5/28 A concerned friend called to notify dispatch that a female was possibly lost in the woods near Taylor Valley Road in the Town of Whitestown when she walked away from where they were horseback riding after having a disagreement. Ontario Fire Department was paged to assist and found the female walking along County ZZ. No injuries were reported.
5/28 A traffic stop was initiated on State Highway 131 near Viola for a speeding motorcycle. Citations were issued for speeding 75 mph in a 55 mph zone, no proof of insurance, and operating without a valid Class M license. The deputy followed the operator back to his residence.
5/29 An area school called to report a motorist passed their bus on State Highway 27 south of Cashton while lights and the stop arm were activated and a child was exiting the bus. Contact was made with the driver who denied passing the bus but video of the incident had already been provided. A citation was issued.
5/30 A traffic stop was initiated on State Highway 33 near Townshop Road in the Town of Hillsboro. A juvenile was cited for speeding 82 mph in a 55 mph zone and guardians were contacted.
