5/18 A deputy conducted a stop on State Highway 82 in the Town of Viroqua on a vehicle with no taillights. The deputy detected the odor of intoxicants coming from the driver and other signs of impairment. The driver was taken into custody for Operating While Under the Influence, cited for Operating Motor Vehicle without Insurance, and transported to the Sheriff’s Office Detention Center.
5/18 A deputy responded to a car versus deer collision on US Highway 14 in the Town of Kickapoo. The driver, Craig Woodhouse, Richland Center, reported no injuries and the vehicle was towed from the scene due to disabling damage.
5/20 A deputy was conducting traffic enforcement on State Highway 56 in the Town of Genoa and initiated a traffic stop on a speeding vehicle on the eastbound side of the Genoa Hill. The driver received a citation for speeding 88mph in a 55mph zone.
5/22 Deputies responded to a residence on State Highway 35 in the Town of Genoa for a domestic disturbance.
5/22 A traffic stop was initiated on South Commercial Street in the Village of Viola. The driver of the vehicle was cited for Operating While Suspended and Operating Without Insurance.
5/23 A traffic stop was initiated on South Cottage Street in the Village of Stoddard. The male driver of the vehicle showed signs of impairment during the stop. K9 Kota was deployed and gave a positive indication for controlled substances. Drug paraphernalia and brass knuckles were located in the vehicle. The driver was arrested for Operating with Restricted Controlled Substance in Blood – 1st Offense and Carrying a Concealed Weapon. Both the driver and a female passenger were charged with Possess with Intent to Deliver Narcotics and transported to the Sheriff’s Office Detention Center.
5/23 Dispatch was notified that 2 motorcyclists were traveling at a high rate of speed along US Highway 14 coming into Viroqua. State Patrol, and Westby and Viroqua police
officers assisted in locating the cyclists who were both cited for speeding 86mph in a 55mph zone.
5/23 A deputy was dispatched to a parking lot on Bekkedal Avenue in the City of Westby for report of a small child being found alone playing near a dump truck. The child was unable to identify themselves or indicate where they lived. Officers from Westby Police Department took the child to their station until the guardians could be found. A short while later the child’s father called to report them missing. Officers returned the child to their residence.
