6/7 Dispatch received a complaint from an individual regarding threatening calls they had received from a Vernon County inmate and another individual out of custody. The matter is being investigated.
6/7 Two horses were reported in the roadway near County Road OK and Wing Hollow Road in the Town of Harmony. A deputy and nearby resident were able to get the horses into a pasture. The assisting resident did not believe the horses belonged on that property and stated they would spread word about the horses throughout the community in attempt to locate the proper owners.
6/9 A citizen in the Village of Readstown called to report stolen prescription medication. A deputy responded to the residence and the matter is under investigation.
6/10 Dispatch received a call from a resident in the Village of Viola reporting that a juvenile came to their door requesting them to call their grandparents. A deputy responded to the call and the child was taken to their grandparent’s house without incident. The parents were notified of the child’s location.
6/10 A business in the Town of Kickapoo called to report that irrigation lines on their property had been cut. No further information was available. Extra patrol will be in the area for the next two months.
6/11 A UTV versus deer strike occurred on County Road EE in the Town of Greenwood causing the UTV to spin around and enter the ditch backwards and come to an uncontrolled rest on its driver’s side. The sole occupant was wearing a seatbelt. He was transported to Emplify Health in Hillsboro for further medical evaluation after complaining of lower back and side pain. Information regarding the accident was sent to the DNR for review.
6/11 Numerous reports of downed trees and limbs blocking roadways were reported to the Sheriff’s Office. The debris was removed and no injuries were reported.
6/11 Vernon County Deputies, the Vernon County Drone Team and the La Farge Police Department responded to a report of a missing two-and-a-half-year-old child who wandered away from a house in the Village of La Farge. Sheriff Torgerson made a Facebook post notifying area residents to be on the lookout for the missing child. Fortunately, the child was found safe and reunited with family. Notifications of the child being located were sent out via social media posts and an update from the Sheriff.
6/11 Deputies responded to a residence on North Church Street in the Village of Ontario for a domestic disturbance. A female was arrested for Disorderly Conduct-Simple Assault and transported to the Sheriff’s Office Detention Center.
6/12 Deputies and Viroqua Police Officers were notified of a disorderly patron at a business on South Main Street. A female was arrested for Disorderly Conduct.
6/12 A deputy responded to a residence on Dodson Hollow Road in the Town of Hamburg over an ongoing mail dispute. A female no longer living at the residence came to collect mail and stated it had been moved from the mailbox. She was directed to submit a change of address that day.
6/13 Multiple individuals reported seeing a vehicle go by with someone waiving what appeared to be a gun out the window. Deputies spoke with those reporting the incident and found that one had Ring surveillance video damage to a large picture window and found a BB on their porch. Dispatch utilized traffic cameras and were able to locate the vehicle in La Crosse County. Contact was made with the adult driver who was unaware that the juveniles he was transporting had been shooting from his moving vehicle. Damage estimates are still pending. No injuries were reported.
