12/29 Deputies were dispatched to a two vehicle fender bender at S1438 State Highway 27 in the Town of Christiana. The driver of a pickup truck pulled into a parking lot and began backing up and collided with another pickup who had pulled into the lot behind them. Both vehicles were still drivable, and no injuries were reported.
12/30 A traffic stop was initiated near State Highway 27 and Saugstad Road in the Town of Christiana for a vehicle that was speeding. The driver had a suspended license. Citations were issued for Operating While Suspended and Driving Too Fast for Conditions due to the weather at the time of the stop. The driver also received warnings for speed and vehicle registration that was due to expire the following day.
12/31 A sheriff’s deputy initiated a traffic stop on US Highway 14 near Riley Road in the Town of Kickapoo. The driver was issued a citation for passing in a no passing zone.
1/1 A sheriff’s deputy stopped for what appeared to be a disabled vehicle on County Road S in the Town of Webster. The car had significant damage and a flat tire due to having struck a fence earlier on a property near Avalanche. During the stop it was determined that the driver was Operating Under the Influence and was placed under arrest and transported to the Vernon County Detention Center.
1/1 A traffic stop was initiated by sheriff’s deputies on South Cherry Street in the Village of La Farge. The driver had a revoked license and was unable to provide proof of insurance. Vernon County K9 Kota was deployed and alerted to the presence of illegal substances in the vehicle. A search of the vehicle yielded drug paraphernalia and a leafy green substance that field tested positive for THC. The driver received citations for Operating While Revoked and Operating Motor Vehicle Without Insurance. The case was referred to the Vernon County District Attorney for further review.
