1/12 Deputies were dispatched to Sugar Grove Road in the Town of Kickapoo for report of a male with an active probation warrant at a residence. The warrant was confirmed and the male was found in the basement and taken into custody.
1/12 A motorist called to report that a tire from a semi-trailer traveling in front of them blew and struck their windshield on State Highway 27 near Rudie Road in the Town of Christiana. The semi pulled off the road a short distance ahead and a deputy was able to make contact with the driver. The car was towed and no injuries were reported.
1/13 Dispatch received a report of check fraud. A deputy spoke with the reporting party’s banking institution who will be looking into the incident further.
1/13 Deputies investigated a report of telephone harassment in the Village of Chaseburg.
1/14 A business on Mill Street in the City of Hillsboro requested law enforcement response for an ongoing issue with inappropriate public behavior occurring inside a vehicle in their parking lot. The car left before deputies arrival.
1/15 A deputy utilizing radar observed a truck near the 6100 block of State Highway 35 in the Town of Wheatland traveling over 100 mph. The driver was ticketed for Unreasonable and Imprudent Speed.
1/16 A business on County Road D in the Town of Clinton called to request help contacting a customer from Black River Falls who had purchased approximately $28,000 in lumber and had not made payment. A Vernon County deputy contacted Black River Falls PD to assist in making contact with the purchaser. Investigation is ongoing.
1/17 A sheriff’s deputy assisted Viroqua Police Department following the report of an attempted burglary at a business on S Main Street in the City of Viroqua. A renter in the building where the business is located was able to provide a description of the suspect who had attempted entry via a back door and fled prior to law enforcement arrival. Investigation is ongoing.
1/17 A traffic stop was initiated near the 500 block of Main Street in the Village of Genoa. The driver was taken into custody for Misdemeanor Bail Jumping, Ignition Interlock Device Tampering, and Operating After Revocation due to OWI/PAC -1st offense, and transported to the Vernon County Detention Center.
1/17 Sheriff’s deputies, as well as Readstown Fire and EMS, responded to a single vehicle rollover near W River Road and State Highway 131 in the Town of Kickapoo. The driver, Kierdan Koster of Tracy City, TN and the two other occupants reported no injuries. Weather, and vehicle tire condition are thought to be factors in the crash.
