Vernon County Sheriff’s Report for the week ending Saturday, Feb 22, 2025

Feb. 24, 2025

2/16     Dispatch received a report of three horses running down Morning Star Road in the Town of Union. The owner was located. A deputy stood by until the horses were retrieved.

2/16     Dispatch received an automated crash notification for a vehicle that rolled onto its passenger side in the ditch near E3953 State Highway 82 in the Town of Sterling. The driver was able to self-extricate and reported no injuries. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

2/16     Deputies responded to a domestic disturbance that became physical at a residence on Irish Ridge Road in the Town of Jefferson. The male and female parties were separated for the evening. The information was forwarded to the Vernon County District Attorney for review.

2/17     A driver called to report they had driven into a ditch near the 3200 block of Plum Run Road in the Town of Stark. A deputy responded to assist the driver while they were waiting for a friend to help get the vehicle back on the road. The driver reported no injuries and there was no reportable damage to the vehicle.

2/21     Dispatch received a traffic complaint for a vehicle traveling southbound on State Highway 27 in the Town of Christiana. The caller stated they were cut off by a white car with Minnesota plates and forced into the ditch. The area was searching but no vehicle matching the description was located.

2/21     Dispatch received a report of a pickup truck sitting in the Readstown Tourist Park. A deputy was dispatched to check on the occupants. The driver stated they were fine and waiting to make delivery of a load of wood that morning.

2/22     Dispatch received a complaint about a truck speeding in and out of traffic and passing along the shoulder on US Highway 14 and County Road Y in the Town of Viroqua. The truck was tracked to a business in Viroqua and a stop was initiated. The driver was taken into custody for Felony Bail Jumping and Operating While Under the Influence. The driver was transported to the Vernon County Detention Center.
