Vernon County Sheriff’s Report for the week ending Saturday, April 26, 2025

4/20 Deputies conducted a traffic stop on West Turner Avenue in the Village of Viola. A baggie with a crystal-like substance, which field testing positive for methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia were located in the vehicle. A female was taken into custody for Felony Bail Jumping, Failure to Pay, and Manufacture/Deliver Amphetamine >50g, and a probation hold. The other two occupants were also taken into custody on probation holds and all three were transported to the Sheriff’s Office Detention Center.

4/21 A traffic stop was initiated on State Highway 80 near Kouba Valley Road in the Town of Greenwood. The driver received citations for Operating While Suspended and No Proof of Insurance.

4/22 Deputies responded to a bank alarm in the City of Hillsboro. The alarm had been activated accidentally.

4/22 A deputy conducted a traffic stop on State Highway 82 in the Town of Wheatland. The driver was cited for operating a motor vehicle without a valid license and arrested for bail jumping.

4/23 A deputy initiated a traffic stop on State Highway 35 near Mundsack Road in the Town of Genoa for a speeding vehicle. The driver was cited for traveling 78MPH in a 55MPH zone.

4/23 Dispatch received a report of a car versus deer collision on Highway 14 in the Town of Coon. The car sustained disabling damage. The driver reported no injuries.

4/24 Dispatch received a call regarding a vehicle that had gone into the ditch and was swerving in the roadway. A sheriff’s deputy, along with officers from the Viroqua Police Department, located the vehicle on Rock Avenue in the City of Viroqua. The driver was arrested for Operating While Under the Influence, Misdemeanor Bail Jumping, and was transported to the Sheriff’s Office Detention Center.

4/25 A sheriff’s deputy and an officer with the Westby Police Department responded to County Road P and Wang Ridge Road in the Town of Clinton after a transport company

driver called to report they had swerved to miss another car and went off the road and struck a bridge. The driver reported no injuries and the truck was towed. Emergency Management, the Department of Natural Resources, and the Vernon County Highway Department were also called to assist at the scene.
