4/12 A sheriff’s deputy assisted a driver with regaining access to their vehicle on Curti Road in the Town of Genoa after wind blew their door shut, locking a buckled up child inside with the vehicle running.
4/12 Residents on Fayette Street in the Village of Readstown called to report their mailboxes had been run over sometime during the evening after a party had taken place at a home nearby. Deputies made contact with the property owner where the party occurred who said they would take care of repairing the mailboxes.
4/13 Deputies investigated a possible illegal dump site near a small wayside on the east side of State Highway 61 near the Vernon and Crawford County line. A tarp and multiple animal hides and carcasses were found. The DNR was notified. Investigation is ongoing.
4/13 A deputy assisted the WI DOR-Division of Alcohol Beverages with an investigation regarding possible liquor licensing violations at a business in the Town of Hamburg.
4/14 A speeding pickup truck passed a sheriff’s deputy in a no passing zone on State Highway 56 and West River Road near the Viola Village limits. The deputy attempted to initiate a traffic stop but the truck failed to pull over and continued out of the village and into Richland County at a high rate of speed. A pursuit ensued but was shortly terminated. Richland County was notified and their deputy also attempted a stop, but the driver still refused to pull over. Richland deputies later made contact with the suspect who admitted to fleeing while on an occupational license. The suspect was then transferred back to Vernon County for transport to the Sheriff’s Office Detention Center for Probation/Parole Violation, and Vehicle Operator Flee/Elude Officer.
4/16 Deputies responded to the Village of Coon Valley for a welfare check after receiving information that a female was possibly in need of help. The female was located a short time later and transported for further assistance.
4/17 A deputy responded to a residence on County Road P in the Town of Forest for a Protection Order Violation. The suspect left the scene before deputy arrival. Surrounding counties were notified.
4/18 Sheriff’s 911 dispatch were notified that approximately 20 beef cattle were in the road near County Road JJ in the Town of Franklin. The owners were contacted and were able to get them back to their enclosure.
4/18 Dispatch received numerous complaints about equipment blocking the road on Niedfeldt Lane in the Town of Hamburg. Contact was made with the owner of the equipment who said they would work on getting it moved so it was not obstructing the roadway.
