Vernon County Sheriff’s Report for the week ending Saturday, April 12, 2025

4/6        Vernon County Deputies along with Hillsboro Police responded to a residence on Mechanic Street in the City of Hillsboro for a verbal domestic disturbance.

4/6        A deputy responded to East Court Street in the City of Viroqua for a locked vehicle with a 2-year-old child inside. The deputy was able to get the door open. The child was unharmed.

4/6        Vernon County Deputies and Westby Police responded to Old Towne Motel after staff could not get a response from two individuals who were supposed to have checked out. On entry, the individuals were found still sleeping, and drugs and paraphernalia were found in the room. Both parties were arrested for Possession of Methamphetamines and transported to the Vernon County Detention Center.

4/10     A deputy initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle that was driving suspiciously and that had pulled into a residence on Terhune Street in the Town of Wheatland. During the stop the deputy determined that the driver was intoxicated. The driver was arrested for Operating Under the Influence (3rd) and transported to the Vernon County Detention Center.

4/10     While conducting radar enforcement on State Highway 82 east of La Farge, a deputy observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. A traffic stop was initiated after radar indicated the vehicle was traveling at 99MPH in a 55MPH zone and the driver was cited for speeding 44MPH over the posted limit.

4/12     Vernon County Deputies and Viroqua Police responded to a residence on Dousman Drive in the Village of De Soto for a domestic disturbance involving an intoxicated male. The male was arrested for Disorderly Conduct – Domestic and after medical clearance was transported to the Vernon County Detention Center.

4/12     Dispatch was notified of a car versus deer collision on State Highway 27 in the Town of Christiana. The vehicle sustained major, disabling front end damage, but the driver and occupants reported no injuries. All occupants were seatbelted.
