Vernon County Sheriff’s Report for the week ending Jan. 11, 2025 includes info about county burn ordinance

Several calls were received this week reporting possible brush fires in progress that turned out to be controlled burns being conducted by the property owners.  Sheriff Torgerson includes related attachments (See blow) for your information regarding applicable ordinances, but most importantly, if you plan to burn brush, we ask that you to call Vernon County Dispatch at 608-637-2123 (option1) to report your burn and to call back once you have finished so that fire departments and other resources are not dispatched unnecessarily. Dispatch will then be able to relay if there are any burn bans in place. We appreciate your cooperation.
