Vernon County Sheriff’s Office responds to two vehicle crash near Liberty

LIBERTY, Wis. – The Vernon County Sheriff’s Office reports that on Friday, November 24 at approximately 5:45 p.m., the 9-1-1 Dispatch Center received a report of a two-vehicle collision that occurred on State Highway 56, at County Road S, in rural Viola, WI, in the town of Liberty.

According to the Sheriff’s report John Andrew Werthwein, 56, of Soldiers Grove, WI was traveling south on County Road S, entered the intersection and collided with a vehicle traveling east on State Highway 56. The eastbound vehicle, driven by Kolebe Charles Ferguson-Mc Coy, 18, of Viola, WI was pulling a boat on a trailer. The front of the Werthwein vehicle struck the left side of the boat and trailer causing substantial damage.

A traffic sign, including a Stop sign, was also damaged.

No injuries were reported.

Assisting the Sheriff’s Office were the Wisconsin State Patrol, Viola Fire Department, and the Vernon County Highway Department.
