Vernon County Sheriff’s Department Report for the week ending Saturday, March 1, 2025

March 4, 2025

2/23 A deputy initiated a traffic stop on State Highway 162 in the Town of Hamburg for a vehicle swaying and deviating from its lane. During the stop it was determined that the driver was operating while impaired. The driver was arrested and booked into the Vernon County Detention Center for Operating While Under the Influence- 2nd offense.

2/23 A concerned citizen notified dispatch of a disabled vehicle near the 5300 block of US Highway 14 in the Town of Viroqua. Deputies arrived and assisted the driver with changing a flat tire.

2/23 A deputy was dispatched to State Highway 35 in front of the Great River Roadhouse for a 2-vehicle collision. Both vehicles were still operable and neither driver reported any injuries.

2/23 Deputies were called to a residence on Mundsack Road in the Town of Genoa for a domestic disturbance. The Help End Abuse Response Team (HEART) were called to assist.

2/24 Dispatch received a complaint of a vehicle passing cars in a no passing zone at a high rate of speed. A deputy was able to locate the vehicle and initiated a traffic stop on State Highway 35 in Victory. The driver was cited for Operating without a Valid License. A licensed driver was called to pick up the unlicensed driver and vehicle.

2/25 Members of the Sheriff’s Office, Viroqua Police Department, and Emergency Management participated in an active intruder drill at Viroqua Elementary, High, and Middle Schools.

2/25 Dispatch was called to State Highway 82 and Bickel Road in the Town of Stark for a car versus deer collision. The driver reported no injuries, and that the vehicle was still operable. The deer was still alive in the roadway and had to be dispatched by the deputy.

2/27 A traffic stop was initiated in the 5400 block of US Highway 14 in the Town of Coon for a vehicle traveling 88mph in a 55mph zone. During the stop K9 Kota was deployed and made a positive alert. A search was conducted, and drug paraphernalia was located. The driver was cited for Speeding, Operating While Suspended, Operating Motor Vehicle without Insurance, and Possession of THC.

3/1 Deputies initiated a traffic stop in the 600 block of State Highway 35 in the Town of Bergen for a speeding vehicle. The driver received a citation for Speeding 82MPH in a 55mph zone.
