WESTBY – Wis. – The Vernon County Sheriff’s Office reports an additional arrest related to a stolen vehicle investigation in May of this year. In that case 42-year-old Alfred Boydston Jr. was arrested in May following in investigation into a vehicle that was stolen in rural in Westby and later recovered in De Soto. You can read our previous story about that arrest here.

The Sheriff’s Office announced on Saturday October 28, after months of additional investigation and the execution of a search warrant, they placed a hold with the La Crosse County Sheriff’s Office Jail for Samuel Lee Thomas, 45, of La Crosse, WI in connection with that previous investigation. Thomas faces a charge of taking and driving a vehicle without owner’s consent, which is a class H felony.

Formal charges will be sought through Vernon County District Attorney Angela Palmer-Fisher. A
court appearance for Thomas has not yet been scheduled.

Circuit Court records indicate that since Boydston’s early August release on $10,000
signature bond, new charges were filed in La Crosse County Circuit Court, stemming from a
September 28 incident for which Boydston was released on a $1,500 signature bond.
