Vernon County Sheriff Torgerson, Captain Davig, graduate from Leadership in Police Organizations training

Last week, Vernon County Sheriff Roy Torgerson and Sheriff’s Captain Mike Davig graduated from Leadership in Police Organizations training of the International Association of Chiefs of Police leadership (IACP) development training.  The curriculum, based on material developed for the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, was offered by Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Law Enforcement Services in partnership with the IACP.

Everyone in our organization is capable of leadership and it is vital we use these modern behavioral science concepts and theories to recognize and develop future leaders.  Masterfully and passionately presenting the course were City of Prairie du Chien Police Chief Kyle Teynor and City of Sheboygan Assistant Police Chief Kurt Zempel.

Sheriff Torgerson would also like to recognize  University of Wisconsin-La Crosse Police Chief Allen Hill for not only hosting the training but attending the course alongside many of his staff, one being a Hillsboro resident of Vernon County, UWL longtime campus dispatcher, Jeri Baller.  Like Jeri we all formed many new alliances to better serve our communities.
