VERNON COUNTY, Wis. – The Vernon County Sheriff’s Office is reporting that Nathan Gossman of Canton, Minn., who eluded local law enforcement since Friday has now been taken into Custody in Rochester Minn.
Vernon County Sheriff Roy Torgerson said Gossman is being held in the Olmsted County Adult Detention Center awaiting extradition. The Sheriff’s Office and Viroqua Police said they will be seeking formal charges through Vernon County District Attorney Angela Palmer-Fisher and that a charge is merely an accusation. Gossman is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty.

Town of Wheatland vehicle believed to be stolen by fugitive recovered, suspect still at large

VERNON COUNTY, Wis. – A man who originally fled Viroqua Police Officers on Friday when they tried to take him into custody on a warrant continues to elude officers, but the municipal truck that law enforcement believes he stole has been recovered from Rochester Minn.
The man identified as Nathan Gossman of Canton, Minn. fled from Viroqua Police on Friday as they attempted to take him and another man, Jesse Devlaeminck from Rochester, Minn., into custody on outstanding warrants. Devlaeminck was apprehended in Viroqua but Gossman led officers on a car chase to the Retreat area, where Gossman then fled on foot after crashing his vehicle.
Vernon County authorities have continued to release updates and on Saturday they reported a pickup/dump truck had been stolen from the town of Wheatland, and they believe Gossman stole that vehicle. On Saturday, Vernon County Sheriff Roy Torgerson released a video in which he said they still have not located Gossman or the stolen truck. Torgerson advised residents, especially in western Vernon County to lock they vehicles, homes and buildings and check any cameras for signs of Gossman, or the stolen vehicle.
This morning, Monday, Aug. 18, the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office released information that the stolen truck has been recovered in Rochester, Minn., and stated that Gossman has still not been apprehended.

The Vernon County Sheriff’s Office say they have evidence that a Minnesotta man who led numerous law enforcement agencies on a high speed chase yesterday before abondoning his car and fleeing on foot may now be driving a stolen town of Wheatland pickup truck.
A statement from the Sheriff’s Office says deputies are currently investigating an auto theft at the “Town of Wheatland”, in Redmound, rural De Soto. A gray 2017 Dodge marked “Town of Wheatland” was stolen. The Municipal license plate number is 94280. Evidence found at the scene appears to link Nathan Randal Gossman.

Vernon County law enforcement searching for man in the Retreat area who fled on foot after car chase

The Viroqua Police Department reports one man is in custody and another is still at large after a car chase. The report says the incident started when officers were called to a parking lot in the city, for a male party with a warrant. As officers arrived on scene, the suspect and a passenger got in their vehicle and started to speed away nearly striking a Viroqua officer with the vehicle. A male passenger, Jesse Devlaeminck from Rochester, Minn. exited the vehicle on the north side of Viroqua and was taken into custody on multiple warrants after a short search by Viroqua officers.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as Nathan Gossman of Canton, Minn. led Viroqua Officers on a high speed pursuit which continued until the suspect vehicle left the roadway near Retreat. A Vernon County K9, the LaFarge Drone Team, Vernon County Emergency Management and Law Enforcement officers searched the Retreat area for several hours and were unable to locate the suspect. Nathan Gossman is still at large. According to the police report both subjects have a lengthy history of burglary, thefts and fleeing. If anyone sees someone matching the description of Nathan Gossman, call 911 and do not attempt to make contact.
