Vernon County hires Finance Director

VERNON COUNTY, Wis. – After almost a year long search, Vernon County announced this week they have hired Annie Lockyer to fill the position of County Finance Director. Lockyer comes to Vernon County from Dallas, Texas where she held the position of Finance Manager for the Dallas Convention Center.

Filling the position has been a struggle for the county and they eventually hired an outside firm to do a search for them after the usual channels produced few candidates. Vernon County Personnel Director Trisha Lepke said Lockyer will start in the position on March 31.

Lockyer’s bio says she was born in California and holds degrees in economics and political science from Washington University in St. Louis and a law degree from Washington and Lee University in Virginia.

A statement from the county about Lockyer says she is “honored to have the opportunity to serve this community, and she looks forward to working alongside its residents, businesses, and leaders. Annie is deeply committed to financial resilience and sustainability. She believes in a proactive, transparent approach to financial management—one that not only delivers essential services but also fosters economic growth, environmental responsibility, and preparedness for future challenges.”

Lockyer steps into the position that was vacated almost exactly a year ago when previous Finance Manager Bobbi Johnson stepped down after it was discovered there had been a miscalculation in the property tax levy. That year the county had under-collected about $2 million in property tax. You can read put previous story regarding that resignation here.

County Administrative Coordinator Cassie Hanan has taken on the Finance Director duties on top of the administrative duties in absence of a finance director.
