VIOLA, Wis. – Vernon County Sheriff Roy Torgerson has released more information about vehicle stolen in the community of Viola that appears to be tied to a previous case involving three juveniles that led law enforcement on chase earlier this month.
Sheriff Torgerson reports the auto theft occurred in rural Viola in the town of Liberty. The theft is believed to have occurred early Wednesday morning, July 10 and appears related to the previously reported incidents in which Richland County Sheriff Clay Porter and Viola Police Chief Chad Kanable each released public statements, on July 10.
The Sheriff goes on to say the private property owner near where the firearm was recovered in that incident, did not realize the passenger car was missing until Friday afternoon, July 12, when reported to the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office. The vehicle, a white colored 2008 Cadillac DTS, was recovered by La Crosse Police on Saturday morning, July 13, on the south side of La Crosse near where the juvenile male was located three days earlier. Although drivable, the vehicle sustained damage along the entire left side and rear.
All incidents remain under investigation. The Vernon County Sheriff’s Office is working closely with the Viola Police Department; Richland County Sheriff’s Office; La Crosse Police Department; and the juvenile authority having jurisdiction, the La Crosse County Department of Human Services.
