Vehicle fire reported in rural Viroqua

VIROQUA, Wis. – Quick response by police and fire personnel this week helped bring a vehicle under control.

According to the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office, on Wednesday, January 17 at approximately 5:00 p.m., the Sheriff’s Office 9-1-1 Dispatch Center received a report of a vehicle fire at private residence on Nottingham Road, rural Viroqua, Wis., in the town of Jefferson. The first units arriving at the scene reported the engine compartment was fully engulfed in fire and spreading to the vehicle interior. A sheriff’s deputy who responded to the scene and the Viroqua Fire Chief used their fire extinguishers to control the blaze until Viroqua Fire’s Engine 2 arrived. The fire was quickly extinguished. No injuries were reported and the vehicle was a total loss.

Assisting the Sheriff’s Office were the Viroqua Fire Department, Viroqua First Responders, and Gundersen Tri-State Ambulance.
