Two people suffer minor injuries after car overturns in creek

VIOLA, Wis. – Vernon County Sheriff Roy Torgerson reports on Thursday evening, Dec. 19, at approximately 5:30 PM, a single-vehicle crash occurred on Church Road, near County Road U, rural Viola, in the town of Kickapoo.

Accroding to the Sheriff’s report a vehicle driven by Joseph E. Froeter, 27, of Evanston, ILL, was traveling northeast and went off the left side of the road. The vehicle struck a guardrail, traveled down an embankment, overturned, and came to rest on its roof, in a creek.

The driver and a passenger, Julie S, Froeter, 62, also of Evanston, ILL, were treated for minor injuries and declined transport.

Assisting the Sheriff Office were the Readstown Volunteer Fire Department, Readstown Emergency Medical Service, and the Kickapoo Valley Rescue Squad. All units were clear from the scene at approximately 8:30 PM.

The Sheriff’s Office says weather was a factor in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office.
