Names released in Hwy 35 head-on crash that injured two

VIROQUA, Wis. – Vernon County Sheriff Roy Torgerson has released more information about a head-on crash that happened on State Highway 35 near Stoddard on Friday, August 23.

Sheriff Torgerson says the operator of the southbound vehicle, a 2015 Lexus sedan, was Andre John Rasulius, 63, of Holmen, Wis.  Rasulius refused treatment at the scene.

Alyson Marie Frey, 26, of La Crescent, Minn., was the operator of the northbound vehicle, a 2018 Hyundai Elantra hatchback.  Frey was treated and released from Gundersen Health System.

STODDARD, Wis. – Vernon County Sheriff Roy Torgerson reports a two-vehicle, head-on crash occurred Friday afternoon, August 23, at approximately 3:00 p.m., in rural Stoddard, in the town of Bergen.  According to the Sheriff’s report a vehicle traveling south on State Highway 35, south of La Crosse, Wis. crossed into the northbound lane and struck an  oncoming vehicle, head-on.  Both drivers were the only occupants in their respective vehicles. 

According to the Sheriff’s Office the operator of the northbound vehicle was transported to Gundersen Health System in La Crosse by Gundersen Tri-State Ambulance in a stable condition.  The other driver refused medical treatment at the scene. Traffic was heavy, and reduced to one lane until the scene was clear at approximately 5:30 p.m.  More details will be released.  Responding to the scene with the Sheriff’s Office were the Stoddard-Bergen Fire Department, Stoddard-Bergen First Responders, and Gundersen Tri-State Ambulance.
