Two people from Iowa face drug charges after traffic stop in Prairie du Chien

Prairie du Chien – On Friday, Sept. 27, 2024, Sheriff Dale McCullick reports that the Crawford County Sheriff’s Office conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle operated by Monica Knockel, 45, of Monona, Iowa, and occupied by her passenger Henry Berns, 31, of Garnavillo, Iowa, in the City of Prairie du Chien, Wis.

Prairie du Chein Police Department K9 Phoenix responded to the stop. K9 Phoenix alerted to the presence of one or more controlled substances in the vehicle. Law enforcement personnel searched the vehicle locating methamphetamine and methamphetamine paraphernalia.

Knockel exhibited indicators of drug impairment, and she was arrested and transported to the Crawford County Jail on charges of operating a motor vehicle with a restricted controlled substance (third offense), possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and obstruction. Also, she was cited for operating with a suspended driver’s license and an equipment violation.

Berns was arrested and transported to the Crawford County Jail on charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and obstruction.

The Sheriff’s Office was assisted by the Prairie du Chien Police Department.
