LA FARGE, Wis. – Vernon County Sheriff Roy Torgerson reports the arrest of two people from rural De Soto after a traffic related stop in rural La Farge on Thursday, July 11. Sheriff Torgerson says that on Thursday night at approximately 8:00 p.m., a deputy sheriff stopped a vehicle that was traveling east on State Highway 82, near Spry Road, rural La Farge.
The operator of the vehicle who was identified as Lukas L. Mesa, 39, of rural De Soto, Wis. was arrested on an apprehension request, previously issued by the Wisconsin Department of Corrections, and unrelated domestic-abuse related charges stemming from a July 6 incident in rural De Soto, in the town of Wheatland.
The passenger, Kimberly Sheehan, 54, was arrested for Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Possession of Tetrahydrocannabinols (THC), Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession with Intent to Deliver Prescriptions, Possession of Amphetamine/LSD/Psilocin, Felony Bail Jumping, and Parole Violation.
Both Sheehan and Mesa appeared in Vernon County Circuit Court on July 12. Bond was set at $1,000 cash bond for Sheehan and a $2,500.00 signature bond was ordered for Mesa. Both are due back in court on July 30th, at 8:30 a.m. Formal charges will be sought through Vernon County District Attorney Angela Palmer-Fisher.
Additionally, and upon further investigation, the Sheriff’s Office will recommend that the initial Methamphetamine possession charge listed at booking be enhanced with an intent to deliver; and include Possession of Fentanyl, also with intent to deliver.
As of July 16th, the date of this release, both Sheehan and Mesa are being held in the Vernon County Detention Center for the Wisconsin Department of Corrections.
The incidents remain under investigation by the Vernon County Sheriff’s Office.
